Flying with Delta-8

Delta-8 is something that’s a variant of THC, and it offers some great effects. But is it okay to fly with it? Can you bring those gummies? Here’s what we know.

Flying with It

Whether you’re trying to reduce anxiety from turbulent flights or want to just kick back and have some weed at the next location, you might wonder if you can fly with delta 8. Generally, if it’s derived from hemp, you’re good. But there are specific laws for each state, and also regulations that go from this as well.

If you’ve got hemp-derived that contains far less than .3% THC to it, it’s considered legal. Unless there are states that prohibit it, delta=-8 won’t violate any laws.

TSA Regulations

The thing with TSA, is the prohibition of THC products does not specifically apply to delta 8. But medical cannabis products are illegal except for anything with less than .3% of the dry weight of THC that’s there.  that’s allowed by the FDA itself. TSA also is mostly focused on the hemp-derived kinds of products that come from this, which is due to the 2018 farm bill, and that does include delta-8 in most cases.

This does mean that delta-8 will not violate federal laws, so you should be in the clear if you choose to take this with you. If you’ve bought this from a retailer that’s credible, chances are, this is totally legal. Always double-check all of the ingredients so that it’s less than .3% THC in most cases.

Always stay away from getting cannabis from a source that’s sketchy, since it’s something that could have more than the legal amount, and it may not be tested.  You should always make sure that there is a third-party testing with this, and also reviews from customers if you choose to get these online.

Gummies and Vapes

The two most common ways to get delta-8 are through gummies and vapes. Usually, for gummies, you can carry them, but you won’t be able to have them out in the open.  You can put them in a carry-on, or within your checked luggage too. Ass for vapes, so long as it follows regular airline regulations and guidelines for storage, you’ll be able to use it. Right now, based on current TSA guidelines, electronic devices for smoking are only allowed in carry on and not within checked bags.  This is because they don’t want it to activate, and cause problems.

They also want you to make sure that you prevent any possible activation of these products as well.

This may include as well, removing the battery, and also putting it in a case to protect it.

What about delta-8 tinctures?

Right now, you can have these when you fly, so long as they’re derived from hemp. You can put these in both checked bags, or carry-ons, depending on the type of container and size. For example, carry-ons are only allowed less than 3.4 oz. of liquid, or less than that. If it’s more, you need to put that into a checked bag. So if you’re traveling with bigger tinctures, throw that stuff within your checked bag for best results.

The best way to fly with this is to keep everything in the standard containers, and also comes with a certificate of analysis, so that if TSA does ask about this, they’ll be able to see what it is.

Regardless, it’s pretty easy to fly with delta 8, and it’s perfectly legal for you to do this sort of thing. The only condition is you need to follow the TSA guidelines in order to get the best results, and to fly with delta 8.
