Tobacco Vs. Weed

Tobacco and weed might seem like they’re similar since you can smoke both, but tobacco tends to be much riskier in terms of health than mere cannabis is. Tobacco is legal for adults to use, while cannabis is still illegal at the federal level, considered to be a schedule I controlled substance, and is still illegal to carry if you bring it across the state lines, but some have medical cannabis programs.

The difference mis much more striking when you look at the legalities of this, since the nicotine that’s in tobacco is considered as addictive as heroin is, along with alcohol and barbiturates. Cannabis is definitely missing from the list of the most addictive substances out there, and the cannabis smoke tends to be less carcinogenic.

All about tobacco

This is basically plant that’s grown for the leaves, gets fermented, dried, and press, and then is put into products to offer a large-scale level of production. This is indigenous to the US, Mexico, and south American areas, and this is something that a lot of people used to back in the day would smoke via pipes and rolling papers. All of these tobacco products have what’s called nicotine in them, which is very addictive, and when you absorb this into the bloodstream, it causes your brain to release adrenaline.

Then, the CNS gets stimulated, causes dopamine to rise, and it rewards the behavior, which is party why nicotine is one of the hardest drugs to quit, since it’s hard to curb this addiction. Tobacco has been used in cigars, rolling papers for cigarettes, and even pipes too, and there are some cultures, especially native Americans, who use this for healing ceremonies and other sessions. Some will use chewing tobacco, and also may smoke the leaves as well inside a water pipe, or hookah.

The benefits are that it can help fortify the body and improve overall health, but the benefits are very few according to the research out there, and so far, has more benefits than drawbacks. The risks along with drawbacks are quite numerous, but this is something that’s linked directly to the chemicals rather than the nicotine though.

Some of these risks include the following:

  • Lung cancer along with other kinds
  • High blood pressure
  • Emphysema
  • Bronchitis that’s chronic
  • COPD
  • Stroke
  • Heart attack or heart disease
  • Death

It’s important to note that a lot of cancers come from this, including mouth cancer.

Is there any similarities to weed?

Both of these do have the option to make a person feel good and euphoric due to the endorphins that get released. Both are typically considered psychoactive, but nicotine is the only stimulant in it. HTC is the one in weed that is either stimulating or sedating depending on the strain. However, it’s been found that nicotine is much more addictive when compared to cannabis, but a dependency can happen in both. Both of these drugs do come with bad withdrawal symptoms but nicotine is proven to be much harder.

Another big difference is that tobacco is not good for you if you swallow it, but consumption of weed is totally fine, and you can even enjoy cannabis like this. Some even put this into dishes and baked goods. Another big difference is that the tobacco products that are there come from the leaves, and the cannabis products that you have also come from the flower of this. Both tobacco and cannabis do have some differences and similarities, and it’s up to you to figure out if that’s something you desire or not.
